Gameplay[]

Flood Escape 2 is an obstacle course game where you have to escape a rising flood. In this game, you have to press buttons to open, create, destroy or some other interaction to a part to proceed; for example, some buttons open doors, destroy blockages or create jumps. Buttons can also manipulate water, acid and lava. Doors can also move on their own at a certain point in time.

A player will successfully escape a map by reaching the end zone, where they receive XP and can no longer drown in flood. This counts towards leveling up. For each level a player passes, they earn five gems. Gems can be used to boost the intensity, which can make harder maps show up. Players can also earn coins for winning or participating in levels, and both gems and coins can buy items in the shop.

Some maps have different mechanics and features, such as air bubbles, which are used to give the player extra air to swim in sections where the player would drown with the default 100. Air gained from air bubbles does not regenerate above water unlike the default 100.

Liquids[]

Flood Escape 2 features three types of liquids: water, acid, and lava. Unlike in the first game, you can swim in liquids, in which it instead drains air. Acid has an increased air drain rate, killing players in approximately 3–4 seconds. Lava kills players instantly if it goes over their neck.

In most maps, when enough time passes, the flood's liquid type changes from water to acid, then to lava. Some maps start with acid and/or lava and keep their type the same throughout the whole round.

Buttons[]

Buttons are a core mechanic in Flood Escape 2, allowing doors or other contraptions to activate, and make the next button become available to press. There are five types of buttons: normal, group, inactive, deactivated and exploding. Only one button will be active (colored Green or Light Blue), and the rest will be inactive (colored Yellow). There can only be one active button at a time and they must be pressed in a sequential order in each map. Normal buttons appear green, and require only one player to press it in order to be activated, giving 10 XP. Group buttons are light blue and require 2 players, 1 if there are less than 4 surviving players, to press it, giving 20 XP to each. Buttons that are not ready to be pressed are yellow. Exploding buttons become active in a Chaotic Buttons Event. When the button is pressed, it'll turn Red and explode in 2–3 seconds. They explode faster in Insane, Crazy, and Crazy+ maps.

Buttons that haven't been pressed show a button marker, which renders in front of any parts.

Map events[]

Map events affect the gameplay of rounds, making it more challenging and giving more rewards once completed. There are currently 4 map events: Rescue Mission, where an NPC is stranded somewhere in the map and can be optionally escorted to the exit in order to gain rewards; Mirrored Map, where the entire map is horizontally flipped; Chaotic Buttons, where all the buttons are Group buttons and yield deadly Explosions soon after being pressed; and Thick Fog, where a dense fog engulfs the whole map.

In each situation, beating a map with a map event yields either gems or XP, the amount increasing with the map's difficulty.

Difficulties[]

The maps in Flood Escape 2 are all in one of six difficulties. These are:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Insane
  • Crazy
  • Crazy+

The maps that appear in the next round are based on the Intensity difficulty scaling, which increases or decreases depending on the number of players who survive.

Maps[]

The game currently consists of 50 themed maps. For each difficulty, there are:

  • 11 Easy maps
  • 12 Normal maps
  • 11 Hard maps
  • 10 Insane maps
  • 7 Crazy maps
  • 1 Crazy+ map

There is also one permanent map that got removed.

There is also a game called FE2 Community Maps, where players can play maps created by the community.

Server Types[]

Regular Servers[]

Regular Servers are standard servers that players join upon their entry to Flood Escape 2. Regular Servers consists of normal and group buttons scattered across various maps the current max players for each server is 16. Before the Daily Quests Update Regular Servers used to have a capacity of 12 players.

Pro Servers[]

Pro Servers are more advanced compared to Regular and Chaos Servers. They follow a similar format as Regular Servers, but it is reserved for players who have completed every Insane map in the game. Crazy+ maps are exclusive in this gamemode. The main color palette used in this mode is purple.

The original requirements were to be at a minimum of level 30 in able to play in Pro Servers. Currently it has been changed to completing every single Insane difficulty map in the game and one daily challenge. Aside from this, there used to be an original lobby for Pro Servers, but it was reverted months after its addition for unknown reasons.

Retro Servers[]

Retro Servers were added when the First Monthly Highlights were released, FE2 Retro Mode is a copy of an old build of FE2, when Beneath The Ruins was first released. Along with it, some of the original glitches and bugs can be found here, with examples like using shift lock to clip through thin walls and using the Levitate Emote to no-clip out thick walls. The only minor changes are a notification telling the player about Retro Mode and its data is separate from FE2, a door to the Normal Gamemode, (along with text near the FEC and FE2 signs) and Autumn Hideaway being removed. It is very similar to FE2 2017. (not March 2017.) The Lobby's OST is the original one before the 2020 Boombox update.

Store[]

In the store (located in the menu), there are many items available to purchase. Players can buy trails, tanks, skins, buddies, emotes, auras, and intensity boosts. Gamepasses can be bought and codes can be redeemed here as well. Over time, community items were added to make way for more creativity. Alongside community items are skins based off maps in each difficulty.

Bloxy Awards[]

The game's popularity has resulted in 6 nominations across 2 Bloxy Awards events, of which 2 awards were won.
