Is Code 8 a good movie? ›

Fresh score. Chan does a good job balancing the action with ideas, effortlessly mixing and matching real word and sci fi elements to create a movie that has enough to say about the fear of diversity and tolerance to earn a look. Fresh score. Tight for what it was.

The Code 8 franchise features a unique alternate reality where superpowered individuals are marginalized. Both movies were filmed entirely in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with various city landmarks featured.

Violence & Scariness. Heavy gun violence. Several deaths, mostly from being gunned down (sometimes ruthlessly by police) but also strangling, stabbing, and electrocution. A young woman is forced to be a crime lord's girlfriend.

The movie is very reminiscent of X-Men but in a less fun way. X-Men has always been an allegory for racism and discrimination, and Code 8 picks up on that theme.

You will have to watch the first Code 8 to understand the main characters and where Part II starts, but there is a several year gap in between movies. Part II is primarily a drama movie like the first, has more action, and explores corruption within the police.

Following the sequel to the first part of the 'Code 8' led by the Amell cousins (Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell) progresses the story of the previous film while also giving a new plot to look at.

The final sequence of the movie shows Connor back at his job at the community center that is now thriving. He meets Pav and hugs her. Kingston is shown on TV exposed as a corrupt cop. The final scene shows Garrett knowingly watching as the reporter speaks of a large amount of money donated to regulate Lincoln City PD.
